THE STATE CIVIL AVIATION AGENCY

25 July

The negotiations of Agency with Directorate of Civil Aviation of Turkey

The negotiations were held between the delegations of the State Civil Aviation Agency under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the Republic of Turkey in Baku from 19 to 20 July 2018. The discussions were conducted on the initiatives of both Parties. The main issue was liberalization of air services between brotherly countries.

The main outcome of the talks was an increase in the number of passenger flights between the cities on the territory of Parties by almost three times (from 45 to 127 flights per week).

The traffic rights will be extended to all airlines of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey. This solution was favorably accepted by numerous representatives of airlines who participated at this meeting.

Besides it, the Parties agreed to begin discussions on a new draft of Air Services Agreement, which after signing should replace the current Intergovernmental Air Transport Agreement, signed on May 2, 1992. A new draft Agreement will be forward by Turkish Party in the coming days via diplomatic channel.

The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere.
