Director also mentioned that, today Azerbaijan holds one of the leading positions among the post – Soviet Republics in the field of civil aviation security.
In the 90's of last century the national leader Heydar Aliyev defined a program of development and modernization of civil aviation, in which was envisaged construction of airports and upgrade of the fleet. According to the program in 1999 the new terminal of Baku Airport (at the present time named after Heydar Aliyev) was set in operation, was modernized ATC system of the our republic, and in 2000 were acquired the first two new aircraft Boeing-757-200.
Policy for further development of civil aviation is successfully continued by the President of Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who pays intent attention to the safe and efficient operation of air transport.
